THE BRIEF

The health and wellness industry has been experiencing immense disruption due to advancements in technology. Today’s consumers are embracing wearable technologies and other activity-tracking products more than ever before. The omnipresence of the smartphone has spawned a massive market for mobile health and wellness apps. Healthcare-related mobile apps are becoming popular at an astonishing speed, as indicated by the fact that 69% of US smartphone owners track at least one health indicator using them.

THE CLIENT

The Wellness Institute (your client) is very excited to explore how they can leverage technology to help people live a healthier life. The institute defines wellness as an active process through which people try to improve or maintain their well-being. But they noticed that despite the vast availability of personal metrics and health apps, people continue to struggle.

OBJECTIVES

Our goals for this UI/UX case study were to:

  • Identify what to include in a MVP
  • Dissect findings from surveys
  • Conduct JTBD interviews
  • Illustrate the collected data about the users on an Empathy map
  • Prioritize the features
  • Design the graphical identity of your product
  • Apply the design principles and heuristics
  • Follow UI best practices
  • Put together a comprehensive Style Tile to introduce the future Design System
  • Apply Accessibility best practices
  • Plan and conduct Desirability testing with your users to validate your design

WHY HIIT FOOD?

We were interested in the gourmand who works out to keep eating what they want. We wanted to find a solution for health-conscious foodies.

SECONDARY RESEARCH AND SURVEY

We were interested in the evolution of sports and food applications. We compared the features of the most popular apps.

The survey allowed us to refocus our topic by understanding that stress was a big factor in the motivation to do sport. Overeating was not a reason to do more sport.

JOB TO BE DONE INTERVIEWS AND EMPATHY MAP

We have 5 job to be done interview with 4 sports coaches including a college professor and a sports journalist. These interviews made us realise that the most important thing was to share with friends, which brought motivation.

MOODBOARD AND BRAND ATTRIBUTE

So we decided to create a challenge application between friends, combining sports challenges and healthy recipe sharing.

USERFLOW

We focused on the challenge part until the goal of the application is to participate in a challenge.

USER USABILITY

We conducted usability testing with 5 users. This allowed us to improve the structure of the application and its design.

STYLE GUIDE

We have created a guide system to keep it fun and play on the relaxing side of the sport.

PROTOTYPE

NEXT STEP

The next steps are adapting to iOS, creating filters for recipes as vegan and glutenfree, filtering challenge by time to purpose during recipe.
